ALDI Buying Assistant
12-month Fixed Term Contract
£31,800 Per Annum
Location: Cardiff
Aldi is one of the fastest growing supermarkets in the World and now has over 900 Stores in the UK, with a view to increasing this to 1,200 stores by 2025
The successful candidate will be based in Cardiff, one of Aldi’s newest Distribution Centres.
As a Buying Assistant, you will be reporting into the Regional Director/ Manager.
Your duties and responsibilities include:
- Order merchandise efficiently, taking into consideration stock levels, stock turnover and availability
- To achieve compliance with all internal and external guidelines and regulations whilst ensuring a co-operative working environment, minimising costs and reducing losses
- Liaise with external consultants regarding Health and Safety and Food Safety issues when required
- Liaise with National and regional departments regarding product issues.
- Update all relevant departments with information regarding product data in the agreed format
- Provide the Regional Director/Manager with appropriate information regarding specials re-orders
- Provide and analyse information regarding supplier performance
- Receive and send data via bulletin, email and fax to National and all relevant departments
- Action Emergency Withdrawals and keeps all relevant departments informed
- Ensure the information required regarding Regional Buying of products is maintained
- Process price card orders received from stores
- Recall damaged/ faulty stock to the regional distribution centre and arranges for collection/ credit from suppliers
- Update the Procedures Manual with any amendments where required
- Arrange Health and Safety courses when required
- Respond to customer complaints within the area of responsibility where required
- Maintain and control the stock of calibrated temperature probes for stores as per the legal requirements
- Arrange products to be analysed by external bodies as required
- Ensure the security of any documentation and electronic data in the area of responsibility
- Maintains appropriate backups and logs for data in the area of responsibility
- Check invoices for goods and services in the area of responsibility following Company procedures
- Maintain an efficient and well organised filing system for the department
- Ensure that all documentation in the area of responsibility is archived orderly for the correct period and arranges its disposal at the end of the archive period
- Train other employees where appropriate
- Ensure that the workstation and surrounding area is well organised
- Ensure that all communal areas are kept in appropriate condition
To apply for the role of Buying Assistant, you must have/be:
- Degree in an Analytical topic e.g., Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Supply Chain
- 2 years within a Supply Chain role
- Good knowledge of the fundamental functions of the Supply Chain i.e. Just in Time principles, Control of Stock on Hand, Stock Cleanliness, Demand Forecasting
- Excellent PC skills, notably Microsoft Office
- Ability to familiarise yourself with computer systems quickly
- Confident at establishing effective relationships with a number of stakeholders in a timely manner
Working Days: Monday to Friday + 1 Saturday Every 6 weeks
