37 Hours per week - overtime rate for all hours over 37.
Fully Flexible across 6 days per week, typical starts 5:30 am - 7.5 hour days.
JOB PURPOSE
To undertake, either individually or as a member of a team, general duties concerned with the Waste & Street Scene Service including on street, highway and area cleansing duties and duties around depots.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES SPECIFIC TO THE POST
1. Collection of domestic/dry recyclate/green waste and
transferal to collection vehicle. Sort, reject as required and without spillage.
2. Assisting the driver in the safe maneuvering of the vehicle during the course of the day.
3. Collection of spillage and loading onto the vehicle.
4. Street cleansing either by using mechanical equipment or manual means.
5. Litter picking, either by hand or with ‘litter grab’ or other similar equipment (blower, vacuum) from designated areas.
6. Emptying of litter and dog waste bins, refuse and recycling bins.
7. Collecting fly tipped waste and disposal as required.
8. Deliver/collect and site a variety of bins, including litter, dog and dog/litter bins, wheeled bins, recycling bins.
9. Graffiti removal in accordance with instructions relevant to incident.
10. Remove animal carcasses from highways footpaths etc.
11. Delivery/collection of signage; erected and displayed in accordance with schedules/maps.
12. Scheduling of work – with regards to daily duties, route optimisation and efficient working.
13. General cleaning and maintenance of equipment. To include daily checks, cleaning and use of pressure washer, reporting any defects or repairs to the Supervisor.
14. Provide direction to community payback, community support / litter pickers and apprentices.
15. On site liaison with 3rd parties i.e. Town Council, Parish Council, Highways Dept, members of public and maintenance providers.
16. Report appropriate problems or defects to the Supervisors for further action.
18. To work on Refuse & Recycling as & when directed.
19. To demonstrate an acceptance of and commitment to the principles underlying the Council’s
Equality and Diversity policy.
20. Completion of documentation such as duty sheets, working sheets, vehicle defects and in particular
time-sheets/mileage claim form, all of which must be handed in to the Supervisors as appropriate. Reporting as required through recognised procedures.
21. To comply with the Health and Safety Policy and to take such steps as are reasonably practicable for your own health and safety and that of your colleagues at work and those affected by your work including the general public. To comply with your safety responsibilities and co-operate with management in all respects for the full implementation of the Health and Safety Policy.
22. Such other duties as may from time to time be allocated to the
postholder consistent with the responsibilities of the post.
