About the role
This is a challenging but exciting opportunity, working alongside 1 other Production Shift Manager, you will report directly to the Site Operations Manager. You will be responsible for 15+ direct reports including Team Leaders.
Key accountabilities will be:
• Responsible for ensuring that the highest level of quality is maintained throughout the production process, through compliance with relevant Food Safety legislation, standards and requirements.
• Ensuring all products are made to required specifications – including Food Safety, quality and legislative requirements.
• Identifying, controlling and communicating to Technical or QA Manager, any failures in critical Food Safety, Health & Safety or product quality.
• Leading and guiding Production Operatives to ensure that they have the tools to carry out their roles, ensuring that they understand and comply with Health & Safety and Food Quality requirements; including safe working practices and procedures.
• Ensuring efficient production through correct planning of staffing levels (accounting for holiday and absence cover), resources, and availability of packaging.
• Conducting reviews of employee performance, identifying training needs, facilitating or delivering employee training; to ensure Production Operatives are able to deliver against the requirements of their role.
• Managing issues relating to employee conduct and absence, to ensure that the policies and procedures relating to employment standards are observed.
• Improving productivity by creating a culture where all employees are encouraged to take a proactive approach to CI and driving operational excellence
What are we Offering?
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 dependant on experience
Bonus: Annual bonus scheme up to 10% dependant on business and personal performance
Holidays: 25 days plus bank holidays
Qualifications / Skills Required?
- Proven exceptional management or leadership skills.
- Experience of working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills. You will need to be able to work in a methodical and systematic way, and have a particular aptitude for high attention to detail.
- You will need to be able to work on your own initiative and be open change.
- It would be desirable to have experience in creating and developing a team of individuals who are able to support the sites in achieving WCM standards using manufacturing technologies such as autonomous maintenance, Lean, Six Sigma etc
The successful candidate will need to be flexible on working patterns due to the continued growth of the business.
