We are looking for a Marketing & Communications Assistant to
provide crucial support to the charity through marketing, communications and administrative assistance.
Working in a fast paced, hands on environment you will need to have natural marketing flair, be an excellent communicator, hardworking and proactive!
You must have excellent writing skills, a natural flair for social media and digital platforms and an eagerness to learning on the job.
Objectives
This is an established role within our Marketing & Communications team.
To help ensure that Teesside Hospice and its associated campaigns, services and fundraising activity are promoted effectively and creatively to all stakeholders, by assisting in the delivery of Teesside Hospice’s marketing strategy.
You’ll be working as part of a close knit team that has to turn ideas round quickly and come up with innovate cost effective solutions.
Ideally, you will have a marketing or related qualification and a minimum of one year’s previous experience working in a PR or marketing setting, either in a paid or voluntary capacity. You will have excellent creative flair, written and verbal communication skills, be a self-starter and the ability to manage your own workload.
Responsibilities
- Co-ordinate the production of a range of marketing materials and literature.
- Provide assistance in the organisation, management and marketing of events.
- Creating content for web, email, social and traditional materials.
- Manage data on the CRM system to ensure the delivery of data-driven marketing campaigns and supporter communications.
- Provide editorial support across the website including copywriting of content.
- With the support and guidance of the Assistant Marketing & Communications Manager, manage day to day social media activities and analyse performance.
- Assist in the management of marketing requests from colleagues and support with the creation, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of communications and marketing activities and campaigns.
- Assist in the production of Teesside Hospice’s external magazine.
- Ensure the consistency of Teesside Hospice’s brand image.
- Compile evidence to evaluate marketing and communication performance
- Ensure all Hospice literature is up to date and reviewed regularly.
- Maintain an up to date understanding of GDPR and how data protection and privacy impacts on marketing and communications
- Compilation/distribution of marketing material including Eshots, mailshots, internal communications and flyers/posters
- Respond on a daily basis to general enquiries received through Teesside Hospice’s website, social media, text and email marketing, providing high quality customer and supporter care
- Actively encourage and attract volunteers to assist in the running of the charity’s activity.
- Demonstrate excellent supporter care.
Media, PR and Events
- Support colleagues when required with media and PR opportunities and attend relevant internal and external events to ensure we have a fitting presence, and we utilise our communications channels appropriately, seizing opportunities as they arise and maximising coverage in a timely manner.
- Provide assistance at events by gathering communications and marketing content such as quotes, photographs and video (full video training can be given) to be used over a variety of communications channels.
- Update external listings with relevant Teesside Hospice news, events, workforce opportunities and campaigns information for local media and other PR contacts.
- In line with the current PR Schedule, to follow up, as relevant with PR stories and prepare and issue press releases or media opportunities accordingly.
- Assist with media monitoring and evaluations, reporting in a timely manner and/or as requested.
- Maintain and update the media contacts list, ensuring it is relevant and fit for purpose.
- Maintain good working relationships with media personnel as needed.
Internal Communications
- Stay in regular contact with the teams across the hospice and assist in the production of Teesside Hospice’s internal newsletter.
- Ensure our retail shops and off-site staff and volunteers receive all appropriate internal communications.
- Monitor and refresh signs and noticeboards and ensure adequate stocks of literature are provided throughout the Hospice.
Research and Development
- Through supporter engagement identify giving patterns and individual motivations taking action where appropriate to cultivate support.
- Research marketing initiatives, techniques and trends in the charity sector, through relevant publications, websites, conferences and networking, and make recommendations to the Assistant Marketing & Communications Manager.
- Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the Marketing department through team meetings and supporting other team members in elements of their work.
- Continually look for ways to improve the quality of the service provided.
- Input, extract and analyse data on our CRM system to identify & monitor trends. Interpret the results and act accordingly.
- Collate and support in evaluating the success of a campaign by completing a comprehensive debrief. This may include financial performance, feedback from stakeholders, learnings and future recommendations.
Requirements
• Relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification or relevant experience
• 1 year’s PR or marketing experience
• Excellent ICT skills with competent knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Good knowledge of marketing techniques
