Our client are pleased to announce a new vacancy at their office, for a Drawing Office Manager. This role is a permanent, full time position and will report directly to the Technical Director.

The Role

  • To manage, provide, control and deliver drawing office services for all work including bridges and structures projects. Liaising with estimating, engineering, fabrication, quality and site departments. This will include generation of 3D TEKLA models, either from scratch or importing from client BIM models, produce MTO’s from the models, production of GA drgs, insertion of connection details to the TEKLA model for structures, generation of fabrication drawings and CN files to suit the works.
  • Manage the team of TEKLA technicians and external drawing offices (DO’s). In case of external DO’s, the work will include compiling a brief, vendor review, managing the deliverables to required dates, checking all their work and auditing of DO service suppliers. In addition, the work will include generating TQ’s and GA drgs / detail model for approval submittals. The work will also include any drawing requirements for temporary works and site changes.
  • Generate DO programmes and costs for all work and manage / monitor so as to achieve the deliverable deadlines and targets.
  • Work closely with the Production team so as to ensure that the drawings produced are compatible with the CN machines and delivered to programme.
  • The responsibilities will include full BIM management. Leading, devising and enabling of BIM management system and rolling out the scheme within the company.
  • Ensure that all client requirements on BIM are included within the client’s system and monitor compliance via audits.
  • Build and maintain good relations with all DO vendors and their project team personnel to promote the company values. Essential skills

The ideal candidate will;

  • Have a detailed / expert knowledge and use of current versions of TEKLA.
  • Keep up to date with TEKLA and / or other CAD related software developments and revisions.
  • Possess a good working knowledge of BIM, to develop and implement BIM policy and procedure.
  • Manage the team of TEKLA technicians and external drawing offices.
  • Have knowledge of current drawing practice and standards related to Model build, connections and fabrication drawings.
  • Have good management and organisational skills.
  • Be personable and able to get on with everyone.
