Transport Coordinator Billingham, England

Our client is a long established Transport Company. Innovative and dynamic, they are constantly pursuing new ways to improve the services and products they offer. An opportunity has arisen for a Transport Coordinator to join their team.

This is the ideal role for a Transport Coordinator looking to develop their career with an award-winning company.

As  Transport Coordinator you will be part of a two-shift role, which will involve planning and operating our 20-strong team of experienced drivers contributing to the efficient and cost-effective running of the traffic office function. This role would suit someone with traffic office experience who may be looking to progress and make a career within logistics. 

The main duties for this role include: 
Plan, coordinate and prioritise available resource for collections and deliveries to maintain customer service expectations
Liaising with fellow network members, and external customers
Effectively deal with any vehicle/driver scheduling issues 
Fully brief drivers regarding duties; including collection points, delivery points, pallet numbers, weight etc.
Liaising, briefing and debriefing warehouse and administration teams
General administrative duties to support the transport office operation
Provision of daily operational KPI’s

The successful candidate will have the following attributes:
Good local geographical knowledge
Problem solving and decision-making ability
Ability to balance conflicting priorities
Ability to work in a pressurised environment
IT literate including Microsoft software package
Excellent organisational and planning skills 
Be articulate & have meticulous attention to detail
Influencing and negotiating skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
Excellent customer service skills
Possess a strong team working ethic

This role will be operational between the hours of 11:30 and 20:00hrs. (including a half an hour unpaid lunch break). Cover for the morning shift will be required during holiday periods.
You will be a member of a small team and report directly to the Transport Manager.

This role is a full time permanent position with a starting salary of £19,000 per annum.
